Memorial Tributes

I can still remember the frist day, I met Joe and it was at one of the self advocates day one year. I miss miss his smile, sence of humour, and that darn leather jacket he paid $225.00 bucks for that I would try to steal from time to time. I promised you Joe that I would do a balloon release for you sometime in October. Jen and Ash got to know you, from all of the halloween dances, you would dj for. Your my favorite memory, and always will be.. and ps: I'll keep an eye on Bryce for you and spread your wings and fly rest in peace joe. your the man dude party on. I will also miss all the talks we had about everything from work, friends, family, self advcates day stuff, and relationships too. I know your wish was to have a gf one day down the road too joe

I met Joe several times in meetings about SelfAdvocateNet. And I heard a lot about the vision he and Bryce had to create a place and a voice for self advocates in BC. I feel honoured to have met him and to have heard his ideas and thoughts. I know he touched people's lives, and I send my best thoughts and prayers to all those who were close to him.

Joe was a man who never let the word disability interfere with his life. I have fond memories of him racing Bryce to the office in his souped up chair. DJ Wheels will certainly be missed. Over the last year Joe had been working on completing some business courses at UFV. He had dreams of doing even more with his many skills. We will miss his big smile and his willingness to tackle any tech problem. His life is an example to all of us.
